What is the purpose of virtual systems?

The Virtual Systems allow members to:

- Share their carefully assembled system with other members.
- Post and receive comments about possible systems they are considering.
- Explain why a particular combination of products excites them.

Members generally post their actual system(s), and update their online version whenever they upgrade their real system. This allows other members to see what changes are being made, and learn about the differences.

Some members post a system they are considering, or hope to assemble soon. By posting for comments, other members may offer suggestions.

The Virtual Systems allow hobbyists to share their knowledge and experience.

Who can submit a virtual system?

Any registered member may submit a Virtual System. Private parties are welcome to submit their actual system, or any system they are considering. Commercial users are welcome to submit systems assembled from the products they sell, but they should limit themselves to five online systems at any given time.

How do I post my virtual system?

You must first be a registered member to post a Virtual System at our site. To start a system online, go to the link "Virtual Systems" on our home page. Then find the link "Assemble a System" on that page.

You can access that link directly at:

http://cgim.audiogon.com/cgi-bin/vs_post.pl

Once logged in, you will be able to choose models from our prebuilt database, or add a new one if it is not listed. If you do not complete your system at the first sitting, you may save it and come back to it at a later time. If you had previously saved an incomplete system, our computers will recognize you and start you where you left the system construct. If you want to edit a previously completed system, you may access them through Dashboard and then edit or hide your posted system.

How do I change my virtual system?

You can access and edit your Virtual System(s) through "Dashboard", which has a link on our home page towards the right. Once logged in, find the link titled "Virtual Systems". This link will show any systems you have on file, and whether they are in the "private" area or the "public" area.

You can edit each system, and move them from private to public or vice versa. We recommend that you work on your system in the private area, until it presents a complete picture of your system. Then you may move it into the public area so that other members may view and comment on your system.

How do I upload pictures of my system?

The Virtual Systems will accept up to six pictures of your system, plus one picture for each item if you like. All of these pictures can be uploading during the "building" or "editing" of your Virtual System.

If you have not yet built your online system, then start by assembling a Virtual System at:

http://cgim.audiogon.com/cgi-bin/vs_post.pl

If you already have a system posted, then you may Edit that system and add pictures. Start in your Dashboard, and find the link "Virtual Systems".

How many systems can I submit online?

You may post up to five (5) Virtual Systems at any given time. You are welcome to post systems that you have owned, or systems that you know have a particularly good synergy. But please do not abuse this resource by posting numerous systems as a means to market your products. Please note that Audiogon reserves the right to delete any submissions at any time.

What if I get cut off while working on it?

While you are building a Virtual System online, our computers are saving the details as you proceed. If you get cut off or need to stop, you should be able to come back and resume where you left off. When you come back to the "Assemble a System" link, the computer should present your work as left in progress.
