How do I post a question to the members?

You may use our Discussions to post a question to the membership. You must first select an appropriate forum for your question, then submit a short title plus a detailed question or comments. You do not need to be registered to post questions, but you should register so that you can track your questions and answers more easily.

Please note that we host moderated forums, which means your submissions may not appear on the site instantly. Most submissions are reviewed and posted within a few hours.

How do I respond to a question?

You may respond to any open discussion threads by finding the form at the bottom of that thread. Every thread should have a box for comments at the very bottom of that page. Please note that we host moderated forums, which means your submissions may not appear on the site instantly. Most submissions are reviewed and posted within a few hours.

How do I keep track of my questions?

If you posted as a registered member, then you will be able to find your recent posts through either Dashboard or the forums themselves.

Why are the forums moderated?

Audiogon strives to maintain a site that is informative, focused, and dynamic. In order to maintain a low signal to noise level, we moderate the discussion forums in a number of ways.

Threads are kept on-topic and relevant to our members.
Threads are expired if they are repetitive or not of interest in the long term.
Threads are closed if the standards of discussion are losing ground.

We discourage rude or condescending behaviour, but at the same time, we encourage active cooperation and passionate disagreements about audio related issues.

Why did my thread disappear?

The forum archives are edited to insure that future readers may easily find useful information. Moderators regularly expire certain threads for a number of reasons such as: duplication of subject matter, or timeliness of a particular subject. In general, most threads remain online for at least 30 days, so that all interested parties may participate while the subject is relevant to current users. Some threads will then remain online indefinitely, while others will be removed.

Forum moderators have the ability to remove threads at their discretion.

This process allows future readers to find useful information quickly, without having to peruse hundreds of search results. As well, it allows our computers to respond much faster if the size of the database is kept within reasonable limits.

Why wasn't my question posted?

Audiogon strives to maintain a site that is informative, focused, and dynamic. In order to maintain a cohesive and vital database, we moderate the discussion forums in a number of ways.

We may decline to post a question if:

- The question has been answered many times in the past.
- The question is not detailed enough to solicit answers.
- The question is not relevant to the discussion of this hobby.
- The question is poorly worded, contains foul language, or is an attempt to sell or promote a users product, etc.
