Audiogon allows you the ability to use simple formatting and even HTML to enhance your listings.
Audiogon supports headers from h1 through h4 to organize your listing sections. Select the header type from the Font Format drop-down.
Think of the hierarchy of your listing, and break it up accordingly. This will make it visually appealing and engaging to a shopper.
When filling out your description, we include a WSYIWYG editor that allows you basic formatting options like Bold, Italics and Underline.
Just highlight the text you want to apply formatting to and click on the appropriate option.
In addition, you can create ordered and unordered lists, which may come in handy when you want to include specs in a tidy fashion.
Audiogon allows you to include clickable links in your listing. However, simply copy and pasting the url into the description will not make it clickable. A user will have to copy and paste the text to visit your link.
In order to make a link clickable, you'll open up the blue HTML button to format it properly using an <a> tag.
Links are defined using the "href" tag. So a simple link to take your readers to another website would look like:
Example: <a href="https://support.audiogon.com>https://support.audiogon.com</a>
To make the link more appealing, change the anchor text between the <a> tags.
Example: <a href="https://support.audiogon.com>Audiogon Support</a>
A plain link may be what you want, but you may not necessarily want the user to leave your listing. In that case you can add the attribute target="_blank" to the first <a> tag so that when they click the link it opens it up in another window or tab.
Example: <a href="https://support.audiogon.com" target="_blank">Audiogon Support</a>
Audiogon also allows for users to add images into their listing. While product images belong in their appropriate section, there may be cases where you would want to include an additional image.
Users in our Dealer Program may want to include their company logo or trade accreditations.
To add an image to your listing, open up the HTML editor and use the <img> tag along with the url link to a hosted image.
Example: <img src="https://www.audiogon.com/logo.png">
It is ideal that your image is already the size you need it to be for your listing. You should ensure that your embedded image is of appropriate size. You can control the dimensions using the height and width attributes.
Example: <img src="https://www.audiogon.com/logo.png" height=200 width=400>"
You could then wrap that image with an <a> tag to link to the appropriate website.
Example: <a href="https://www.audiogon.com/" target="_blank"><img src="https://www.audiogon.com/logo.png"></a>
While users in our Dealer Program have the ability to embed product videos in their listings, we do not allow private users to embed of video or other rich media. Though, you could use a screencap image from your video with a play button overlay and wrap it in <a> tags to mimic an embedded video. This will show users that there is a video to watch. It will just take them to a different site, as opposed to watching it directly on your Audiogon listing.
