Audiogon Fees

What are seller fees?

Seller fees are the various costs and charges incurred in listing an item on Audiogon. There are two types of fees a seller may be expected to pay: Listing Fees and Transaction Fees.

Listing fees are the cost associated with placing an ad or auction on Audiogon. There is a $5 minimum listing fee for all equipment listings on Audiogon.

Transaction fees are the cost associated after a listing is sold on Audiogon.

What does it cost to sell equipment on Audiogon?

The easiest way to calculate how much it will cost you to list your item on Audiogon is to use our Fee Calculator on our Sell Page. Below is additional information and examples.

Users can choose between two listing types: List Until Sold and List For 90. For more details about the difference between the two listing types visit our Audiogon Listing Types article.

List Until Sold (LUS) listing fees are calculated at 6% of the item’s list price but incur no transaction fee if sold. LUS Listings are active for as long as the seller wants to sell the item, and can be relisted as many times as they want.

List For 90 listings have a $10 listing fee and last 90 days. If the item sells, they incur an 8% transaction fee up to $10,000, and 3.5% of the amount beyond that. There is no transaction fee if the item does not sell. Audiogon has a minimum transaction fee of $5.

Unlike eBay, we don't calculate transaction fees off sales price, taxes, and shipping cost—only on the item sales price.

List For 90 transaction fee: 8% on $10,000 ($800) and 3.5% on the remaining $2,720 ($95.20).

For comparison, as of June 2026, a private user's final value fee for the same item on eBay would be $1,143.19—a difference of $237.99. This doesn't factor in that they would also charge their percentage on your shipping cost and taxes.

Information for business owners or high volume sellers.

How much do upgrades cost?

Listing upgrades are an additional cost beyond the listing fee. Audiogon offers three different upgrades: Bold ($2.50), Thumbnail Carousel ($5), and Featured ($20). 

Upgrading to Featured includes both Bold and Thumbnail Carousel add-ons—for free with a multi-upgrade discount of $7.50—as well as the ability for your listing to show in premium locations elsewhere on the site to shoppers like the Homepage and Category pages, as well as relevant forum discussions.

How much does it cost to sell music on Audiogon?

Music listings only have the List For 90 listing option. However, there are no listing fees for music listings. Only the 5.5% transaction fee, with a minimum of $2, if it sells.

What if my buyer backs out?

An offer or bid on Audiogon once accepted (or the auction closed) constitutes a binding contract. Thus backing out of a purchase under these conditions is considered a very serious offense. If your buyer is unable or unwilling to follow through with the transaction as agreed via an offer or auction, you may submit negative feedback. The buyer that backs out committing to buy your item, a penalty fee of $19.00 will be charged to the buyers account.  Please Submit a Transaction Dispute Ticket to support in buyer back out situations.

Backout fees are charged to the buyer's default credit card automatically after 48 hours.

How are Transaction Fees billed?

Transaction Fees are billed depending on your method of payment, and are only assessed on List For 90 listings. All Transaction Fees are taken out automatically at time of purchase from your payout on the service used for payment processing.

You may see this noted as an Application Fee on Stripe or Partner Fee on PayPal.

Audiogon Service Fee

A service fee is charged to buyers when purchasing an item from a seller; the amount is dependent on sales price. This is used to support the marketplace, develop new features, and provide support to our customers and community.

Other Assessed Fees

You may be charged a transaction fee if you violate our Off-Site Solicitation Policy.

Buying or selling outside of Audiogon

If you offer your contact information or ask a buyer for their contact information in the context of buying or selling outside of Audiogon, you may be charged a transaction fee based on the amount of the sale even if your item doesn't sell, regardless of your listing type. In this situation, the total amount of the sale is determined as follows:

• Auctions: The total amount of the sale is the auction start price, the Buy It Now price (if applicable), the reserve price (if applicable), or the price identified between the buyer and seller, whichever is highest.
• Classifieds: The total amount of the sale is the fixed price or the price identified between the buyer and seller, whichever is higher.

Third-Party Fees

There may be other fees incurred by the buyer or seller depending on what payment method is chosen to complete the action. These are separate fees that Audiogon has no control over.

Processing Fees Associated with Payment Methods

There may be separate fees deducted from your payout depending on what payment method you accept on your listing. These percentages are determined by the payment processor, and are not considered Audiogon Transaction Fees. Processors may apply additional fees in certain circumstances like International Payments.
