Audiogon encourages all Buyers to make reasonable offers, and refrain from offering so low an offer as to be insulting. Most Buyers at Audiogon are knowledgeable audiophiles who often haggle within reasonable price ranges. Occasionally, there are Buyers who will offer ridiculously low prices to see if any Sellers respond.
If you receive an offer that you find insultingly low, you may choose to:
- Reject the offer. We allow a Memo space to include a brief message.
- Leave the offer alone, but send a separate message.
- Counter offer if you think the user is operating in somewhat good faith, or has significant positive Audiogon Feedback.
You will probably receive quite a few offers on your item, so stay calm and wait for the "right" buyer.
Automatically Reject Lowball Offers
We also offer the option to automatically reject low ball offers. This is a setting you enable in your User Account Settings. Lowball offers are considered to be anything below 55% of your asking price. This is a global setting that applies to all your listings.
